Butt Lift Surgery

Butt lift surgery encompasses a number of cosmetic surgery procedures. The surgical approach varies depending on the goals of the patient. Some people want less fat in their buttocks while others simply want the butt to be lifted. To this end, butt lift surgery includes the traditional buttocks lift, buttocks augmentation, and Brazilian butt lift. Upper leg and buttock liposuction can be added to most of these procedures as well.

Butt Lift Procedure

In a traditional buttocks lift, incisions are made along the natural curve of the buttock, in the lower abdomen, or in the upper leg. Excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining skin is stretched to tighten the area. Another common butt surgery is the buttocks augmentation. In this procedure, artificial butt implants are inserted into the top part of the buttock. A buttocks augmentation pulls sagging skin and fat higher on the upper leg giving a more youthful appearance to the butt. Liposuction may be used to remove some fat from a trouble area which is then placed in the buttock region. Using one’s own fat to reshape the butt is called the Brazilian butt lift surgery.

Risks of a Butt Lift

Perhaps the most common complication among all butt surgery types is that the patient’s goals are not met through surgery. A buttocks lift or buttocks augmentation may not reverse the aging process to the degree that the patient desires. In these cases, setting realistic expectations in advances is important. Infection and fluid accumulation may occur, but can be treated. In buttocks augmentation, if infection occurs, the artificial implant may need to be removed until the infection clears. A new implant can be inserted later.

Recovery From Butt Lift Surgery

Recovery from butt lift surgery depends on the type of butt surgery that is performed. Larger incisions or the placement of butt implants may lengthen recovery times. Be prepared for recovery to last a few days to a few weeks after a buttocks lift.

Both the buttocks lift and the buttocks augmentation cost approximately the same in terms of surgeon’s fees. In both cases, the butt surgery is around $4,700. Remember that anesthesiology and facility fees may increase the butt lift surgery cost.
