How Long Will the Facelift Results Last?

More Facelift Surgery Information

A facelift can restore a more youthful appearance. Facelift results generally last from five to 15 years, depending on the procedure and skin condition. Traditional facelifts will last for 10 to 15 years. Less invasive and aggressive procedures, such as the mini-facelift and the feather lift, will last for a maximum of five years. Yet facelift procedures are not a permanent solution to aging facial skin. The "new" face will age just as the original face did, since thinning and weakening skin and the effects of gravity are inevitable with time.

Factors to Consider for Facelift Timeline

There are factors aside from the type of facelift performed and age of the patient that can influence how long a facelift lasts. Alcohol and tobacco use still affect the skin after a facelift, and can take years off the facelift's lifespan. Sun exposure is another environmental factor that affects the appearance of the skin and can speed up the aging process even after a successful facelift. Also, genetics are unavoidable and unchangeable, and play a role in the lasting effects of a facelift.

Maintenance on Your Face lift

Facelifts can be combined with other procedures, such as, collagen injections and facial implants to prolong the youthful effects of a facelift.  Many patients notice sagging around the jaw years after a facelift due to aging and opt for implants under the jaw to correct.  It has been shown that chronic anxiety releases “stress hormones” that is damaging to skin.  There are several ways to relieve stress, such as daily moderate exercise or through quiet meditation.
