Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is a disease targeting the tubes, ducts (ductal carcinoma) or lobes (lobular carcinoma) of the human breast. It is more common in females than in males though it does occur in both sexes. Breast Cancer is evidenced by the occurrence or enlargement of lumps, particularly those that seem uneven, located in the breast or in the armpit. Other signs include nipple leakage, weight loss, pain or ulcers concentrated in the breast. Treatment for breast cancer can involve surgery such as a lumpectomy (local surgery to remove a small lump or mastectomy (removes a large portion or all of the breast). This is usually done in conjunction with chemotherapy (chemical treatments) and radiation therapy (to attack cancerous areas). Women are especially susceptible to breast cancer, 1 in 8 will deal with breast cancer in her lifetime. While breast cancer can stem from genetic issues that cannot be avoided there are things you can do to try and avoid getting breast cancer. These include limited alcohol use and watching your weight.
