Medial Thigh Lift

A plastic surgeon is capable of performing any of a number of different types of thigh lifts (thighplasty). One specific kind is the medial thigh lift. The medial thigh lift focuses on the inner thigh. Its intent is to reduce the amount of excess fat and skin. In doing so, the surgeon alters and improves upon the shape of the leg. The procedure involves the surgeon making several short incisions into the groin area and the creases of the patient's buttocks. The surgeon then peals or lifts up the skin to remove any excess fat and skin. He or she then takes and reshapes the inner thigh. Drains remove any excess fluids. The process may take as long as 6 hours to complete. After the operation, the patient will be required to wear dressings and a compression garment. Total recovery time is between 3 to 6 months.
