Reassignment Surgery
Reassignment surgery is the process by which the genital organs of one gender are altered to become the genital organ of the opposite gender. Reassignment surgery is most commonly known as a sex change operation. Newborns with intersex genital organs, that is to say their genitals are a mixed growth of both gender's genitals, may undergo reassignment surgery in which they will be given one or the other genital. Grown men and women who believe they are, or would like to be, the opposite sex from which they were born, may also undergo reassignment surgery. Male-to-female surgery is much more successful than female-to-male surgeries due to the difficulty and complexity of the process.
